March 24, 2020 – Selkirk, MB. WWII Métis Veteran Donald Russell Linklater will receive thanks from the Métis Nation and a $20,000 Recognition Payment on his 101st birthday at 2:00 p.m. (CT) at his home in Selkirk, Manitoba.

On February 28, 2020, Métis Nation Veterans Affairs Minister and MNC National Spokesperson David Chartrand was in Rivers, MB to present Métis WWII Veteran Phyllis Eastcott with a $20,000 cheque – the 19th Legacy Fund presentation as a part of the $30-million Canada-Métis Nation Métis Veterans Recognition Payment Agreement.

February 10, 2020 – Raymond Carriere and Ernest Letendre Receive thanks of the Métis Nation and a $20,000 cheque to each of the veterans under the terms of the Canada-Métis Nation Métis Veterans Recognition Payment Agreement. 

Métis Nation Honours Second World War Veteran in Port Hope

November 9, 2019 – Métis National Council Minister of Veterans Affairs and National Spokesperson David Chartrand honoured a Métis veteran of the Second World War at a ceremony in Port Hope, Ontario today. Joseph Willmer Gagnon  enlisted on  April 26, 1941 and was assigned to the Canadian Forestry Corps of the Canadian Army as a truck driver. He spent most of his  wartime overseas time in Holland. His father,  Henry Holenger Gagnon, had fought in the Canadian armed forces during the  First World War at  Vimy Ridge and Passchaendaele in 1917. 

Métis Nation Honours Two Second World War Veterans on National Aboriginal Veterans Day in Ottawa

November 8, 2019 – Métis National Council Minister of Veterans Affairs and National Spokesperson David Chartrand honoured two Métis veterans of the Second World War at a ceremony in Ottawa today. The ceremony at the National Aboriginal Veterans Monument included the presentation of a $20,000 cheque to each of the veterans under the terms of the $30 million Canada-Métis Nation Métis Veterans Recognition Payment Agreement.

October 31, 2019- Saskatoon and Duck Lake, SK – MNC President Chartier and Minister of Veterans Affairs David Chartrand visited two Métis Nation veterans of the Second World War on October 30, 2019, joining with the veterans, their families and communities in ceremonies honouring the contributions of these Métis Nation heroes. Each was awarded a cheque for $20,000, making them among the Métis Nation Veterans receive these benefits under the recently concluded $30 million Canada-Métis Nation Métis Veterans Recognition Payment Agreement
